Raid Finland rental and sales fleet

Here is the listings of the boats currently available for rent and also for sale for the event. To reserve boats please contact Mike Hanyi. These boats are all privately owned and properly maintained. When they are reserved for the Raid then they are gone, so don't wait until it is too late! These boats are also available during other times of the year, contact us to arrange or advise for you a cruising program.

Lulu

Lulu was built in 2000 on the molds of Coquina II, the hull was designed by Nat Herreshoff, Lulu differs as she sports a lug rig and different cockpit.In 2005 she sailed her first Raid with rave reviews from her English crew, more pictures can be seen in the archives website and was the boat sailed by John abd Lainey Widdaker. Their story can be read in Watercraft #54.

Lulu is a true competitor with an excelent pedigree.

Gannet

For sale

Sakari Altonen built his Iain Oughtred designed Gannet in 2004. She turned out great but we did not get a chance to photograph her! Gannet is a great little Raid boat for 2 people, easy to sail and row. She is a new boat with new sails and well constructed. Sakari enjoys building boats for himself and he has said he cannot build a new boat until his Gannet is sold - no space! Length 4.5m/14'6” Width 1.7m/5'8” Sail 11m2/118 sqft.

2000€ is a fair price for NEW boat, she can be delivered to the Raid start, Trailer not included but delivery to your home country may be easily arranged thru other Raidersand other methods, sorry not for rent.

Meander

Peter Lord has competed in 4 Raids, 2003,04,05, and 06. Mike Hanyi has purchased Meander and she will now join the rental fleet, She is a Swedish combijolle. Peter has done away with the boring aluminum rig in favor into a beautiful gaffer, she is a good boat for a 2 person team.

Meander now a permant part of the Raid

Doris

Matti Salo has sailed Doris in the 2002 and 2004 event. Designed by Iain Oughtred she is a John Dory. She is 5.7m/18'8” long and 1.4/5' wide. She is competitive under 2 pairs of oars or sailing. For 2005 she is expecting a topsail!

Fridolen

Fridolen the german H-Jolle came to Finland in the spring of 2005,Csaba Hanyi competed with her in 2005 and 2006, She is a big fast surfing sled. Equipped with a full suit of racing sails she is THE FASTEST BOAT in the correct hands. She is available for experenced 2-3 person team, complete with full cockpit tent.

Cohiba

Cohiba was built in 2000 by Allan Savolinen and Iiro Vanamo, both highly respected professional boatbuilders. She was designed by Gilbert Smith in 1895. She is constructed of pine on oak, with an oak keel and larch garboards, real spruce laid deck, her spruce mast and boom are hollow. 32 square meters of Sail by Doyle. Probably the only catboat of her size and grace in Europe, She has been sailed only 2 seasons as she belongs to the busy builders. One spectacular daysailer for 3 people or more. Available for a third of her replacement value.
