News for 2007

After 5 years of organizing and running the Raid, Mike Hanyi has decided to take a break, and for the 2007 Raid hand the helm over to Johan Fransson.

From Mike:

It has been a great experience for me to run such a unique program for 5 years, It started as a dream and slowly took shape in 2002, Difficult to arrange as the raid is in motion from location to location. Since then every year has been special and in a different way, Participants are more like Friends then competitors, But I have also had a dream of my own now since 2001, to sail my new boat in the wake of my mentor, Nathanael Herreshoff's own sail and oar journey from 1874. I have spent over a year year constructing her. Her name is “Riviera” and I will shortly add a link to this website to the Riviera Project which is under construction. My Involvement in the Raid will continue for the 2007 season, But I hand the helm over to Johan Fransson, who has assisted in the 2002, 2003, 2005, and also 2006 Raid. As this project is so unique, He has my full support and backing, We have much work ahead, and soon the dates and route of the 2007 Raid will be announced.Feel free to ask me or Johan any and all questions.
